Acknowledged as the world's leading manufacturer of ultrasonic anemometers with the widest range of quality products. Gill anemometers are used globally by some of the largest organizations in the world for research, aviation, agricultural, sport, transport and industrial applications to name just a few. Specifically for marine applications, the WindObserver II ultrasonic anemometer is available with Lloyds type approval. Gill's commitment to innovation means the constant introduction of new products and always staying at least one step ahead of their competitors.

Gill's accepted dominance in the field of ultrasonic gas flow measurement dates back to the inception of the company. They are the largest single manufacturer of ultrasonic anemometers in the world. That position has been achieved by supplying the very best quality products and providing high quality sales back up and advice.

New Wind Turbine Assessment & Turbine Control

With the increased growth in demand for wind turbines, Gill Instruments designs and manufactures the most complete range of ultrasonic anemometers for the wind energy market.  From initial turbine site assessment to use of instruments for turbine control, customers can choose from a range of 2-axis and/or 3-axis anemometers.  Options include heating & analog output.

Extreme Weather WindObserver

Extreme Weather WindObserver ultrasonic anemometer

This variant of the WindObserver has been designed to remain ice-free in most freezing weather conditions.  With exceptionally high heating power and the ability to measure wind speeds up to 75 m/s (0-168mph) the instrument is ideal for use in extreme conditions where performance and high reliability are paramount.  With 150 Watts of electrical heating producing 1 Watt/cm², and tested in accordance with MILSTD810F, the unit is particularly suited to operate as part of wind turbine control systems, which are exposed to extreme weather conditions.  The high wind speed (0-75 m/s) capability proves essential in applications involving tornados and tropical storms, in land based and offshore applications.  The small opposing transducers provide maximum possible directional ultrasonic signals (used to provide wind data) whilst ensuring the minimum of wind distortion.

This first class wind speed and direction sensor has been proven in many applications worldwide and compliments the range of wind speed and direction (anemometer) products from Gill.
