Chlorophyll Fluorescence Module-CFM

Developed in cooperation with Hansatech Instruments, Ltd. (UK), the CFM has been developed for complete integration with the CIRAS range of systems.

Simultaneous leaf gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence in one truly integrated and portable system

The CFM provides measurement of chlorophyll fluorescence using the Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM) technique. The pulsed fluorescence that is induced by the modulation beam is used to probe the efficiency of light-use for photosystem II photochemistry.  Our LED light unit has been extensively redeveloped to include chlorophyll fluorescence detection capabilities, while retaining all normal functionality as an actinic light source for gas exchange measurements. The modified unit provides the modulating beam, saturating pulses, far-red illumination and fluorescence detection required for fluorescence measurement, in a remarkably compact, solid-state and lightweight unit. This requires no additional power sources. 

When part of a CIRAS-2 system, the following gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters are measured and recorded:

Leaf Gas Exchange Assimilation (Pn), Internal CO2 (Ci), Stomatal Conductance (Gs), Evaporation/Transpiration (E), Vapour Pressure Deficit (VPD)
Chlorophyll Fluorescence Fo, Fm, Fv, Fv/Fm (Max Yield), Fs, Fm', Fo', ΦPSII or ΔF/Fm' (Yield), qP, qNP, NPQ, PAR, TEMP and ETR

Several of our leaf cuvettes can be adapted for use with commercially available fluorometers.  In particular, we have developed a simple yet powerful adaptation to the Hansatech FMS1 and FMS2 pulse modulated fluorometers.  A special fiber optic cable with extended tip (8mm diameter) can be used with many of our light units.  It enables the fiber tip to get close to the cuvette window without intruding on the leaf illumination.

If ordering a chlorophyll fluorescence adaption for use with Walz fluorometers, please provide us with the diameter and length of the fiber tip.

LED Light Units

LED Light Unit for Automatic Leaf Cuvettes

 

PP Systems offers a range of LED light units providing automatic control of light intensity inside the cuvette.  These light units feature a bank of red and white LED's, requires minimal power to operate and generates minimal heat making it an ideal choice for field measurements.  The white LED's are included to enhance spectral distribution.
No external power is required.

Quartz Halogen Light Units

Quartz Halogen Light Unit for Automatic Leaf Cuvettes

 

PP Systems offers a range of quartz halogen light units providing automatic control of light intensity inside the cuvette.  These units feature a fan-cooled, quartz halogen light unit offering excellent spectral distribution thorughout the PAR range.
An external power supply (i.e car battery) is required.
