PLC6 (U) Automatic Universal Leaf Cuvette

The PLC6 (U) Automatic Universal Leaf Cuvette is our most popular cuvette supplied with the CIRAS-2.  It is lightweight and robust making it ideal for rapid sampling of leaf gas exchange in the field as well as laboratory studies.

A recording button is conveniently located on the handle ensuring easy recording of photosynthesis data with just one hand.  A tripod thread is also provided for use with most camera tripods for longer term studies.  The PLC6 (U) features integral peltier cooling elements for accurate, automatic control of leaf cuvette temperature.

Automatic temperature control is integral to the PLC6 (U).  The user can easily control temperature over a wide range with the options to track ambient or disable temperature control.

Control Range: -8^o C below ambient up to +40^o C

Light Control

We offer two light sources for use with the PLC6 (U) featuring automatic control of light intensity inside the cuvette.  Our LED light source features a bank of red and white LED's and requires minimal power to operate (ideal for field studies).  The white LED's are included to improve spectral distribution.  A fan-cooled, quartz halogen light unit offers excellent spectral distribution throughout the entire PAR range.  This light unit has a higher power requirement and is normally powered from an external 12V battery.

Control Range: 0-2,000 (µmol m^-² sec^-¹)

Our unique head design allows the user to customize the cuvette area to meet specific applications and plant types.  Three chamber window inserts are supplied with each PLC6 (U) as standard measuring 18mm diameter, 25mm (L) x 18mm (W) and 25mm (L) x 18mm (W).  See below.

Accurate, non-contact leaf temperature measurement and control is ensured by a built-in IR sensor that is fitted to the base of the cuvette.  Two PAR sensors are located inside the cuvette at the leaf surface for accurate measurement of PAR (Photosynthetically active radiation).
